New Astra on Sale

29th September 2009
Vauxhall dealers are now taking orders for the New Astra, the long awaited sixth generation of the model. This really is an all new Astra with many successful elements first introduced on the Insignia but adapted for this more compact vehicle. Additional technology from other Vauxhall models have been implemented including "Adaptive Forward Lighting", this clever little system automatically adjusts the headlight beams according to the road layout and also the weather conditions.

Exterior Design
The New Astra has a much sleeker design, swept back eagle eye headlights and Vauxhall has stretched out the hockey stick rear from the previous generation to provider a more aero dynamic body.

At launch the New Astra will be available with 8 engine options, 5 petrol's and 3 diesel. The trim levels will include the S, SE, Exclusiv, Elite and SRi. It's worth visiting your Vauxhall dealer to get the full details about the options Astra models.

A 1.4 litre 16v petrol engine is on the entry model but the pick of the engine range has be the 1.7CDTi diesel delivering a combined 60.1 miles to the gallon along with a very reasonable 124g/km CO2 emissions. Next year will also see the introduction of an ecoFLEX model, the 1.3 CDTi diesel with just 109 g/km.

How will it compare with it's rivals? We'll the New Astra is a good looking sporty car with some excellent features but it is going up against the likes of the ever popular VW Golf. With such stiff competition the customer reviews next year will make interesting.
