Vauxhall sold to Magna

Vauxhall sold to Magna

13th September 2009
The recession wounded car manufacture General Motors has confirmed it will be selling Vauxhall to car parts producer Magna leaving an unsettled feeling amongst the employees at the UK car plant. Although Magna has said they will be honouring the existing contracts at the Luton plant, their lack of comment over the plant's future beyond 2013 has sent very worrying signals to workers and union chefs.

The Luton and Ellesmere Port plants employ approximately 5,500 people, if closed it would have a devastating effect on the local community.
